Avoid white and black
It’s an old rule but an important one. There’s only one person who should be wearing white on the day – and it’s not a wedding guest! If you love pale colours, choose a light pastel shade or a champagne hue with plenty of embellishment and nothing that resembles a wedding dress!
Similarly, unless you have a killer LBD to rock with bright accessories to lift your look, stay clear of black. It’s just too hard to look suitable for a wedding if you’re wearing a colour more associated with a funeral.
Mother of the bride?
This is a hard outfit to pick, so work with the bride to find something that will fit with the scheme of the day. Above all, you want to feel comfortable and ready to do a lot of circulating. A dress that won’t clash with the groom’s mum is also best given the number of photos that you will appear in together.
Stick to classics
Wedding guest dresses are always the obvious choice. They look good, they are fun to wear and you can find a huge range to suit all body shapes, heights, styles and fashions. Go online and have some fun browsing the options to find a range of fashionable wedding guest dresses online at AX Paris or other online retailers. A maxi dress works beautifully at a summer wedding and it’s so comfortable to wear.
Choose one with a great pattern or some embellishments to be a real show-stopper. Mini dresses are great in a simple cut and colour to let the shape do the talking – and pair them with killer shoes to show off your pins! An on-trend midi is beautiful in a trendy floral or graphic print, and you can have plenty of fun with your shoes, bag and accessories to create a unique wedding guest look.
Have fun with accessories
Even the most classic wedding guest outfit can be brought up to date with accessories and jewellery. Think colour pops, a little animal print (perhaps a fake fur stole on a cold day, for example), a quirky hat or fascinator and some great graphic cuffs and necklaces. Statement earrings can also work very well and help you to stand out – discreetly of course – in those wedding photos!
