The street style is full of jeans full of cuts, rips and even rips. If you are thinking of getting yourself some you have two options.
You can buy them or you can take some old ones that you have already sent to the back of the closet and customize them, to give them new life and take advantage of the ones you already have.
Do you join the fashion of ripped jeans? We tell you how to make them in DIY format …
Step 1: Choose The Cowboy To Customize
The first thing you should do is to choose well what old jeans you want to tear. Are you more tight skinny? Or do you prefer boyfriend style widths that give you a very destructive look? Think to what extent you are able to defend them in your day to day, what color fits more with the outfits that you have in mind.
You can inspire yourself with the street style, the influencers have taken them in every way! However, ultimately we recommend you look for those that best feel your body type, depending on your height, your curves or what you expect to achieve with them.
Step 2: Get All The Necessary Tools
Not enough to put the scissors, at least if you do not want your jeans look like Thibaut thong jeans. You need some more tools, but you will surely find them at home or in any hardware store in your neighborhood.
- Sandpaper or pumice: They serve to age the jeans and create those frictions that give rise to the threads that hang from the jeans.
- Steel chip: It is the well-known silver scourer, used to clean the dishes more thoroughly. This accentuates the previous effect, not only leaving the friction in sight if not breaking some of them until only thin threads are left holding the cowboy.
- Cutter and good sewing scissors: They serve to make strategic cuts in the knees, in the loins, in the thighs or even in the glutes, as Kylie Jenner does.
- Wood plank: Put it inside the cowboy when you are tearing it, so that you do not cut or destroy without wanting the opposite part of the garment.
Step 3: Be Clear About What You Want To Do
Improvisation is not friend of handmade projects, which need to have very clear guidelines before getting going. To decide where and how you want to destroy your old jeans, use a pencil or chalk to mark the exact points to cut.
The most common areas to cut a cowboy are the low (creating an ankle design), the knees, and the area of the thighs or, in the case of the most thrown, under the line of the rear. You can also make frictions in those same areas, it will seem that comes directly from the store. Bonus trick! Do it with them on to know exactly where the tear will be.
Step 4: Let The Destruction Begin!
Place the jeans on a flat surface and begin rubbing the marked parts with sandpaper and steel shavings until the denim fabric begins to weaken and disintegrate. If you are thinking about rubbing large areas of the jean like the knees or the backside, you can always put it on and rub yourself against the pumice stone directly. You can also wash them several times with very hot water so that the color will wear and look older.
Once the jeans are sufficiently worn, use the edge of the scissors or the cutter to scratch the area where you want the openings. If you do not want to see the skin do it alone until you see the white threads under the surface of the fabric? If you want a whole hole, continue until you get through it.
Step 5: Wear Them with Style
You already have your broken jeans just the way you like them, they have not cost you a single dollars and they have returned to the first row of your wardrobe. Now you want to put them with everything! And you can do it, because the street style shows that they are as versatile as normal jeans, fitting in casual outfits, working girl and even red carpets. The best? They do not have rips, seams or holes where it does not convince you that they have, because you have made them 100% personalized.
